Community Parks & Shelters

The Teton County/Jackson Parks & Recreation Department maintains 13 developed parks and 4 naturalized/undeveloped areas throughout the community. Many of these park spaces and shelters are available to reserve for private events, birthday parties, BBQs, and other gatherings during the summer season.

Reservation Season & Availability

  • Reservation Season: May 1st to September 30th 
  • Winter Season: October 1st - April 30th
    • Formal reservations are not accepted during this time
    • Parks remain open to the public for informal use on a first come, first-served basis
    • No amenities available - all restrooms and water fountains are locked and winterized starting October 1st every year.
  • Next Season Booking: 
    • Summer 2026 reservations open January 1, 2026.
    • Because January 1 is a holiday, we will begin processing requests on January 2, 2026 in the order that they were received
    • No early submissions will be accepted prior to January 1
  • Advanced Notice Required: All reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance
  • Reservation Request Form: Complete our Park, Special Event, and Field Use Request Form and either:
    • Drop it off at the Recreation Center Front Desk or
    • Email it to our Customer Service Supervisor

Special Events

Any reservation with 50 or more guests is considered a Special Event. This includes events such as weddings, reunions, athletic tournaments, or anything open to the public.

Note: Events that involve alcohol sales, food trucks, or larger public impact may require additional Town of Jackson or Teton County Special Event approval.

Fires, Grilling & Cooking

  • Open flames or fires are NOT allowed, unless using a designated fire pit
    • The only park with an established fire pit is Owen Bircher Park in Wilson
  • Charcoal grills are permitted but users must follow pack-in/pack-out rules:
    • Bring your own grill
    • Properly dispose of all charcoal and ash off-site
  • Personal fire pits, propane burners, and open campfires are not allowed.

Alcohol & Food Truck Policies

  • Alcohol consumption is allowed in parks
  • Alcohol sales are NOT allowed without:
    • A valid liquor license
    • Town or County special Event Approval
  • Food trucks may be permitted but:
    • Must receive Town or County Special Event approval if goods are being sold onsite (any exchange of money)

Important Park Rules

  • No pets (dogs or cats) are allowed in Town or County parks (per ordinance)
  • Inflatables (bounce houses, etc.) are not permitted
  • Town Square Reservations: Requests for George Washington Memorial Park (Town Square) must be made through the Town of Jackson

Cancellations & Refunds

  • To receive a refund, cancellations must be:
    • Requested at least 48 hours in advance of the reservation date/time
    • Submitted in writing to our Customer Service Supervisor
  • Cancellations requested by phone or within 48 hours or the reservation do not qualify for a refund.

Alta Park

Location: Alta, WY

Park Hours: Open daily from sunrise to sunset

Tucked away just off Ski Hill Road near Victor and Driggs, Idaho, Alta Park offers stunning views of the west side of the Grand Teton and serves as a peaceful, open space for recreation and relaxation. It’s an ideal destination for outdoor enjoyment, family gatherings, and community events.

  • Two unisex public restrooms
  • Picnic areas with benches and tables
  • Playground with a children’s bouldering area
  • Basketball half court
  • Two full-size tennis courts
  • One set of horseshoe pits
  • Expansive open greenspace for events or casual use

Alta Park


Mike Yokel Park

Location: 455 E Kelly Street, Jackson, WY

Nestled just off East Kelly Avenue, Mike Yokel Park is a charming neighborhood space that comes to life in the summer with a serene, flowing creek. It’s the perfect spot for relaxing, playing, or gathering with friends and family.

  • Open greenspace
  • Picnic shelter with 6 tables (electrical hook-ups available by reservation only)
  • Playground (under construction)
  • Swings
  • Horseshoe Pits
  • Sand Volleyball Court

Mike Yokel Park


Miller Park

Location: 255 W Deloney Ave, Jackson, WY 83001

Park Hours: 8:00AM - 8:00PM

Miller park is very close to the town square, restaurants and shopping making for a good location for special events and social gatherings.

Miller Park


Munger View Park

Location: Jackson, WY

Hours: 8:00AM - 8:00PM

Located in the southwest corner of Melody Ranch subdivision along the South Park loop road. This park has a new playground and walking path.

Munger View Park


Murie Family (North) Park

Location: Jackson, WY

Hours: 8:00AM - 8:00PM

Located on North Cache Street, visitors to the Jackson area find North Park a good place to picnic. This area is also an excellent place to watch water fowl that frequently visit Flat Creek.

Park Amenities:

  • No public restrooms or utility hook-ups.
  • Off-Street Parking
  • Park Shelter with Picnic Tables
  • Open Greenspace
  • Bird Watching

Murie Family North Park


Owen Bircher Park

Location: Main Street, Wilson, WY 83014

At Owen Bircher park, you'll find a scenic park in addition to a well lit arena used by many local ropers, barrel racers and other equestrians in the valley. The arena is used as an ice skating and ice hockey rink in the winter months.

Nestled within the neighborhood, this park is a hidden gem.

Russ Garaman Park

This little pocket park situated adjacent to the pathways system is a local's favorite. Large open grassy area with access to Flat Creek.

Wayne May Park

Made possible by the generous contribution of Wayne C. and Selma May, this park was created to preserve natural beauty and open space in our community while honoring the rich ranching and agricultural heritage of Jackson Hole. Today, Wayne May Park serves as a passive park open to the public, offering a quiet space for reflection, walking, and seasonal recreation.

  • Walking path
  • Access to Jackson Hole Community Gardens
  • Groomed cross country and skate ski track (winter only)

Wayne May Park
